The Vigneshwara Temple also called Vighnahar Ganapati Temple of Ozar, is one of the Astha Vinayaka temples of Maharashtra. It is located pproximately 85 km from Pune on the Pune-Nashik highway and 9 km to the north of Narayangaon. It is situated on the banks of the Kukadi River.
The Vigneshwra Temple was constructed during the period of the Peshwa kings in 1785. In 1967, it was rebuilt by ‘Shri Appashastri Joshi’ who was a great devotee of Ganesha.
Legend: According to the Mudgala Purana & Skanda Purana, a demon called Vignasura meaning the demon of obstacle was creating obstacles and ruining the worship etc of the great Rishis and Lord Ganesha fought and killed him in a battle. The relieved Rishis built the temple of Ganesha as Vigneshwara at Ozar.
Festivals: Ganesh Chaturthi is the most celebrated festival. The temple priests offer various Archanas and Pooja.
