In the year 2005 my wife and her friend Rani Patel wanted to do something for the unfortunate slum children near our area Malviya Nagar, New Delhi. They picked up eight children and started their work. Soon more ladies joined hands and the number of children also grew. We contributed money to buy books and clothes.
Today they have a registered full fledged NGO which provides coaching, books, stationary, clothing, midday meal, vocational training and computer education to more than 5000 street children in Delhi. It has tremendously reduced petty crime in the area and the slum children are doing exceptionally well in studies. Last year in 3 MCD schools, 56 of our slum children were class toppers and all the 27 children coached for the 10th board exams passed with very good marks. It is a project which gave us immense satisfaction – that we were able to change a few lives for the better.
Through this website many of my site visitors helped our cause regularly. Great moments of sacrifice and heroism are rare in our lives. However every once in a while we can contribute a bit for the betterment of our society which has given us so much. For less than the cost of a Coke we can give midday meal to a child! If you can prevent one boy from becoming a drug peddler or one girl from becoming a red-light area victim, HE will surely bless you on the JUDGEMENT DAY!!
In the year 2013, 5 of the students coached by our NGO Aarohan appeared the 12th board examination and all 5 have passed.
One of the kids coached by Aarohan, Sumit Kumar Ruwali (Roll No: 9168452), the son of a roadside fruit cart seller scored 94% marks.
Another bright boy Dheeraj, also rocked the house by getting selected in the coveted IIT. He scored 89% marks in the 12th board (Roll No: 9726332). His brother Suraj got selected FOR the Regional Engineering College. Their father is a roadside presswala (irons clothes).
Having helped them for many years, we are fully committed to help these bright and talented boys to pursue their dreams of higher education.
