Lord Vishnuu used to worship Lord Shiva daily with this Sahasranama and offer 1000 lotus flowers. One day Lord Shiva wanted to test him and stole one lotus flower. At the end of worship when Lord Vishnu found that one flower is short he was dismayed. Then he thought it is said that my eyes are like lotus flowers so I will offer my eye and pulled out one eye and offered it in pooja. Pleased with Hid devotion Lord Shiva appeared in front of him, blessed him and restored his eye and presented Him with the famous Sudarshana Chakra.
This is the Shiva Sahasranama Stotra is given by Lord Vishnu in Linga Purana.
There are some minor variations in how Anradha Podwal sang it but mostly it tallies.
