
The Puradhana Vaneswarar Temple is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva and Yama, located in Thiruchitrambalam, near Pattukkottai in the Thanjavur district of Tamil Nadu, India. The presiding deity is called Puradhana Vaneswarar, and the goddess is known as Periyanayaki. The temple is also known as a Thevara Vaippu Sthalam, as it is mentioned in the Devaram hymns.

Yama Temple: A rare temple dedicated to Yama, the God of Death, is located nearby, where Yama is depicted with his assistants Chitragupta and Kalan.
Mythological Significance: The temple is associated with the story of Lord Shiva and Kamadeva (Cupid), where Kamadeva was burnt by Shiva’s fiery glance and later restored to life.
The spot is called Kaman Pottal . On Mamatha’s wife Ratidevi’s request, Manmatha was restored to life. The Yama Dharmaraja Temple is believed to have been built at the spot where he was restored to life.

Prayers: People pray here for child boon, remedy from illness, happy marriage, and also for justice in cases of cheating or injustice.

Timings: The temple is open from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and again from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.
Special Rituals: Ayul Vruddhi homam (for long life) is performed during Yama Kantam time on Saturdays.

- Buses plying on this route, including those from Pattukottai to Aranthangi and Pudukkottai, will stop at the temple.
- You can take a bus from Pattukottai to Aranthangi and get off at Thiruchitrambalam.
By Train:
- The nearest railway station is Thanjavur.
- From Thanjavur, you can take a bus to Pattukottai and then another bus to Aranthangi, alighting at Thiruchitrambalam.
