The Girijatmaj Vinayak is one of the Ashtavinayak temples. It is located on the Pune Nasik road passing through Junnar – Junnar 5 km away is the town closest to Lenyadri.
The temple is one of the complex of 18 caves of Buddhist origin. The 8th cave cut fom a single mountain rock is the temple. You have to climb 307 steps to reach the temple. For those who cannot climb Palki carriage is available for a price.
Legend: According to legend Lord Shiva’s wife Parvati performed penance to beget Ganesha here. So the name – Girija’s (Parvati’s) Atmaj (son) is Girijatmaj.
There are no electric bulbs in the temple. The temple is constructed such that during the day it is always lighted up by the sunrays.
Festival: Main festival is Ganesh Chaturthi.

How to reach:
By Road: Pune-Lenyadri distance is 96.0 km (2 hr 45 min) via NH60 Highway. There are many buses that travel on a regular basis to the Vigneshwara Temple Ozar to Lenyadri.
Train: Pune and Talegaon are the two nearest Railway stations, and after that, another option is Kalyan Railway Station. The Pune station connects to major Indian cities.
Air: Pune Lohegaon Airport, around 10-12 km from Pune, is the nearest airport. This airport is connected to all the domestic airports in India.
